TAMPA After nearly a week, motorists in South Tampa can finally navigate the site of a ruptured water main break.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Tampa Water Department officials the portion of N Rome Avenue, from W Hillsborough Avenue to W Burke Street, has reopened.

The roadway had been closed since Thursday afternoon after a 24-inch water transmission line burst in the River Bend neighborhood, prompting a temporary boil-water notice and forcing the evacuation of eight homes.

The pipe was fixed last week, officials said, but repairs to the road were completed on Tuesday.
