16-year-old Port Richey boy killed in crash

A 16-yearold Port Richey boy died Friday after he lost control of his car on a curve, slid off the roadway and hit a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Kevin Monaco was driving a Dodge Caravan with three friends inside. While heading southbound on Lake Forest Circle, near Lake Forest Drive, he lost control of the van about 3 p.m. The car flew to the shoulder of the road, hit a tree and caught fire, troopers said.

Michael Morgan, 17, and Megan Kahn, 16, all sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center. Jamie Florio, 16, was transported to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said.
