17-year-old critical after motorcycle wreck

TAMPA — A teen was in critical condition Saturday night after his motorcycle crashed into a van that turned in front of him, authorities said.

Mohammad Saed, 17, of Tampa was driving a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle west on E Fletcher Ave. about 4:20 p.m. when a 2003 Ford Windstar coming in the other direction turned onto N 19th Street, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Saed hit his brakes, skidded and slammed into the passenger side of the van.

Saed was taken to Tampa General Hospital with critical injuries, the Sheriff's Office said. His passenger, Marangillette Viera-Rivera, 32, of Tampa, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was in stable condition Saturday night.

The van's driver — Victor Chadee, 69, of Tampa — was not injured. No charges have been filed, but the investigation continues, the Sheriff's Office said.
