43-year-old man dies in Ruskin crash on I-75

RUSKIN — A 43-year-old man died early Monday after being thrown from his pickup truck onto the median of Interstate 75.

William Joseph Tront Jr., of Nokomis, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 just before 3 a.m. when he veered into the right shoulder of I-75, deputies said. He over-corrected, steering his pickup back to the left, and began to lose control.

The pickup spun across all northbound lanes then onto the grass median south of Valroy Road before flipping on its side.

Tront, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck, deputies said, and landed about 5 feet away. He was rushed to Tampa General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating.
