ST. PETERSBURG — A 5-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool Saturday night at the Mosley Motel at 401 34th St. N, according to St. Petersburg police.
The boy was attending a party at the motel, where he lives with his parents, when someone noticed him at the bottom of the pool, police said.
Several people helped pull the boy from the pool and began CPR efforts before paramedics arrived around 9:40 p.m.
The boy was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. His parents accompanied him to the hospital.
Authorities did not immediately release the boy's name. A death investigation was underway Saturday night.
