6-year-old on scooter hit by SUV in Tampa

SUV hits boy, critically injures him

A 6-year-old boy was in critical condition Tuesday after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle while riding a scooter, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Yves Zamora of Tampa was riding his Huffy Micro Scooter in a driveway at 13704 N 20th St. Tuesday at 6:18 p.m. He entered the roadway into the path of the SUV driven by Jack Bradley, 65, of Tampa, the Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities said Bradley tried to swerve left but was unable to avoid hitting Zamora. The boy was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was in critical condition Tuesday night, officials said.

Bradley was not injured. He is not currently facing charges, the Sheriff's Office said.
