PALM HARBOR — Troopers have identified the 85-year-old man who died after he was struck by a car while trying to cross U.S. 19, Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Walter J. Fitzgerald of Palm Harbor was walking in a marked crosswalk when a Cadilac SLS turning from Alderman Road under a green light hit him just before 7 a.m.

The driver, 22-year-old Dominick Rozzi of Holiday, sustained minor injuries. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The 85-year-old died at the scene. Charges are pending for Rozzi, according to the FHP.
