A 20-year-old man died Saturday after his car was struck by another car while he was turning off U.S. 19 in Hernando County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Erik William Hoxie, of Lecanto, was turning left from U.S. 19 onto Vespa Way when his 1997 Acura Integra moved into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, the FHP said. Hoxie's car spun to the edge of the road, and the Silverado rotated and overturned.

Hoxie and the passenger of the Silverado, who had serious injuries, were taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where Hoxie died, police said. The driver of the Silverado had minor injuries.

No alcohol was involved, and both drivers and a passenger were wearing seatbelts, the FHP said.
