ZEPHYRHILLS One person was killed and two more were seriously injured in a Wednesday crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident took place about 11:30 a.m. near Eiland Boulevard and Silverado Ranch Boulevard, the FHP said.

The driver of a 2011 Chevrolet sedan was attempting to turn left from Silverado Ranch onto Eiland, the FHP said, when the vehicle pulled into the path of a 2017 Ford van driving east on Eiland. The front of the van crashed into the right side of the Chevy.

A female passenger in the Chevy died at the scene, the FHP said. She was wearing her seat belt. The driver and one other passenger were seriously injured and transported to a hospital. The FHP did not identify them, or say whether they were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the van, Kristopher Yaklin, 24, of Wesley Chapel was wearing his seat belt and was not injured. There are no charges pending, and officials said alcohol was not a factor.
