DADE CITY — A 17-year-old Pasco County teen died in a crash Friday, and a 16-year-old was seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at 5:19 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 98 and Trilby Road. The FHP said Dalton Overstreet, 18, was driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee west on Trilby, approaching the flashing red light at the intersection. His passengers were Luis Rosales, 17, and Loghan Harrelson, 16. All were from Dade City.

Driving south on U.S. 98 in a 2017 GMC Terrain sport-utility vehicle was Rachael Shireman, 40, of Brooksville.

The Jeep failed to yield to the SUV, the FHP said, crossed into its path. The front of the Terrain struck the passenger side of the Jeep. Rosales, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected, the FHP said.

He was the only one involved in the crash not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Bayfront Health Dade City, where troopers said he was later pronounced dead. Harrelson suffered serious injuries and was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. Oversteet and Shireman both suffered minor injuries.
