SEFFNER — A pickup truck crossed the median along West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Thursday and slammed into a motorcycle, pushing it into a third vehicle and killing the operator, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. just west of Parsons Road.

Hubert Anders, 81, of Dover, was traveling east along the boulevard in a 2001 Ford F-250 when he crossed the median for unknown reasons, the Highway Patrol said.

The pickup hit a westbound 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by James Richard Barnhardt, 50, of Plant City, causimng it to collide with a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado behind it, the Highway Patrol said.

The F-250, meantime, continued through a parking lot on the side of the road, hit a sign, entered a second parking lot and collided with a concrete pole before coming to rest.

Barnhardt was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured, the Highway Patrol said.
