TREASURE ISLAND — A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Monday morning crash, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Gary Orsley, of Largo, was riding his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle south in the median lane of Gulf Boulevard, deputies said, approaching 104th Avenue.

Jim Uppendahl, 67, of North Port, was also driving his 2005 Honda Civic in the southbound median lane of Gulf Boulevard. Uppendahl stopped for another vehicle.

Then Orsley’s motorcycle struck the rear-end of the Civic, deputies said, ejecting the rider.

Speed played no role in the crash, deputies said. The investigation will see if impairment or distracted driving were factors.
