ST. PETERSBURG A 55-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday after he collided with a tow truck, according to police.

The man, whom police did not name, was riding a 2013 Honda south on 34th Street S about 10:20 a.m. behind the tow truck, investigators said. The rider tried to pass the truck, being driven by 32-year-old Eric A. Danford, as the truck changed lanes to make a right turn.

The rider clipped the passenger-side mirror of the truck, which knocked him off the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Danford stopped after the collision and cooperated with detectives. The accident remains under investigation.
