Pasco Sheriff: Couple taken to hospital after hot air balloon accident

WESLEY CHAPEL — A married couple sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a hot air balloon hit a power line and fell to the ground, deputies said.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Michael Braun, pilot for Aeriel Adventure Tampa Bay, was trying to land the balloon when its basket struck a power line and landed near The Groves Shopping Center off Oakley Boulevard.

Passengers Hector Vega, 37, and his wife, Ashley Vega, 33, were both transported to a local hospital. Braun, 62, was uninjured, deputies said.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified, the Sheriff's Office said. No further details were released.
