Police seek driver in fatal Pinellas Park hit-and-run involving bicyclist

PINELLAS PARK — Police are searching for the driver who they say fatally struck a 56-year-old bicyclist and drove off on Tuesday night.

John Robert Glenn Instasi, a transient with family out of state, was struck while trying to bicycle west across 66th Street N at 121st Avenue N, according to Pinellas Park police.

Instasi was struck in the right curb lane of 66th Street N around 8:45 p.m., police said, and died at the scene. His bicycle did not have a light.

The driver then left the scene, driving northbound on 66th Street N toward Ulmerton Road, police said. The vehicle was dribced as an older-model sport-utility vehicle, possibly tan or light-colored, that may have front-end damage. The vehicle also may have a dim right rear brake light.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Pinellas Park Police Department at (727) 369-7864.
