Air Force staff sergeant dies in incident at MacDill

TAMPA — Officials on Wednesday identified the woman who died earlier this week in an accident on MacDill Air Force Base as a 29-year-old staff sergeant from New York. Staff Sgt. Emily Elizabeth Clayburn, 29, of Palatine Bridge, N.Y., was a member of the 6th Air Mobility Wing and was assigned to the 6th Logistic Readiness Squadron. Base officials said she died Monday in an "industrial area accident" that remained under investigation. "Staff Sgt. Clayburn will be missed by the entire wing and all who had the opportunity to serve with her," said Col. Scott DeThomas, the wing's commander, in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
