Airman killed while working at MacDill

TAMPA — A member of the 6th Air Mobility Wing died Monday afternoon in a work-related incident at MacDill Air Force Base, according to base officials.

MacDill authorities said the cause of death and details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The name of the deceased was being withheld until 24 hours after relatives had been notified, said Capt. Regina Gillis in a statement.

The 6th Air Mobility Wing is the host unit for MacDill, operating the base's KC-135 aerial refueling tankers.
