At least one dead in Skyway bridge accident

ST. PETERSBURG — At least one person has died after an early morning car crash ejected a man and a woman from their vehicle on the strip of Interstate 275 north of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Three cars were involved in the southbound crash, which happened about 2:40 a.m. between the Skyway and the Dick Misener Bridge, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Lt. Joel Granata.

One person was driven to Bayfront Medical Center. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that southbound lanes were closed after the accident, though they have since reopened.
