TAMPA — Tina Kerrigan sat on her screened front porch Saturday enjoying the warm breeze in her quiet North Tampa neighborhood.

But the sunny day soon turned tragic, as she heard children in the next driveway screaming: "Stop! Stop! Stop!"

Kerrigan ran to see what was happening, but it was too late.

One-year-old Camora Pink had been run over and killed by a car backing out of the driveway at 10108 N 10th St.

Sabyne Collin, 38, lived in the brown and white apartment house and didn't realize the child was behind her 2000 silver Ford Taurus as she backed up, police said.

"She wasn't going fast," Kerrigan said. "Maybe 1 or 2 miles an hour, but the baby was so small. It was horrible."

The tragedy unfolded about 12: 15 p.m., after Deanna Wallace, the girl's 27-year-old babysitter, brought Camora and her 2-year-old sister to the house where Wallace intended to meet someone, according to Tampa police.

Soon after they arrived, Collin pulled in behind Wallace's car.

Wallace thought Collin was the person she was meeting and got into Collin's passenger seat, then quickly realized she was wrong. She grabbed the girls' hands and walked them around Collin's car, Wallace told police.

But Camora pulled her hand away to wipe her nose, just as Collin began backing out of the broken, dusty driveway. That's when Camora was knocked down by the left rear bumper of the car before slipping under the left rear tire.

"There were fire trucks and police cars all up and down the block," Kerrigan explained. "You could hardly move."

Capt. R. Thomas of Tampa Fire Rescue pronounced Camora dead, then crime scene units arrived, Kerrigan said.

Police notified Camora's mother, 25-year-old Deneice Ramsay, who could not be reached later.

Police are still investigating. No charges were filed Saturday against Collin.
