HILL 'N DALE — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed last week after being run over three times on State Road 50.

The man was Jeffrey Dawson, 31 of Sarasota, the Florida Highway Patrol said Thursday night.

Dawson was walking west on the south shoulder of SR 50 near Goodway Drive at about 7:15 p.m. Oct. 28 when an eastbound Ford F-150 drove off the side of the road, striking the man.

Troopers said Dawson was thrown into the eastbound lanes of SR 50 while the F-150 continued without stopping.

Then, two other cars, a 2004 Nissan Altima and a 2007 Ford Explorer, hit the pedestrian as he lay in the roadway.

Dawson died at the scene.

FHP has not released the name of the driver of the Ford F-150, but said Thursday that the person is a 43-year-old Brooksville resident. The investigating is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Cpl. Scott Campbell at (352)754-6767.
