Bicyclist, 18, killed in Tampa crash

TAMPA — An 18-year-old bicyclist was killed in a traffic crash Monday evening on Fletcher Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A tow truck was headed south on U.S. 41 and was about to turn left onto Fletcher when three bicyclists were traveling north on the crosswalk, troopers said. The tow truck driver failed to see them and crashed into Cavoune C. Radcliffe, one of the bicyclists.

Radcliffe, of Tampa, died at the scene, troopers said.

The truck driver, Timothy Jay Wittmeyer, 28, of Tampa, sustained minor injuries.

An investigation remained under way Tuesday.
