Bicyclist dies after crash in Kenneth City

KENNETH CITY — A 49-year-old bicyclist died in a crash on 66th Street Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 8:50 p.m., Jeffery Prendergrast of 6807 50th Ave. N, tried to cross 66th from 50th Avenue N, east to west, into the path of a southbound two-door Hyundai, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Prendergrast was thrown from his bike onto the car's windshield and then into the road. He died.

The Hyundai driver, Christina J. Rochette, 25, of 6143 49th Ave. N in Kenneth City, was not injured.
