Bicyclist dies in Plant City crash

PLANT CITY — A 22-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning when he was hit by a pickup truck as he tried to bike across a road, authorities said.

Christopher Goddard, of Plant City, was improperly crossing the southbound lane of N Park Road about 11:15 a.m., Plant City police said, when he was hit by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Earl Bennett, 67, of Lakeland.

Goddard died at the scene. Bennett was not injured. Police said they wouldn't seek any charges in the crash.
