BRANDON — A bicyclist died Saturday morning after he was hit by a truck while crossing U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Xavier Hernandez, Jr., 38, of Ruskin, was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger north on U.S. 301 just past State Road 60 when Anthony Paul Penta, 22, of Plant City, tried to cross the street, the FHP said.
