ST. PETERSBURG — A bicyclist remained in critical condition after he ran a red light and was struck by a car on Monday night, according to St. Petersburg police.

The incident took place at about 9:21 p.m. Polie said Stephanie Brown, 26, of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2004 4-door Cadillac westbound in the middle lane on 62nd Avenue N. The unidentified bicyclist was riding in the west crosswalk at the intersection of 16th Street N.

Brown was approaching the intersection and had a green light, police said, when the bicyclist rode into her path.

The Cadillac's right front corner struck the left side of the bicycle, sending the bicyclist into the windshield and over the roof, police said.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, landed on the pavement. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and reported to be in critical condition, police said.

Brown was not injured in the crash, police said.
