Bicyclist killed in Pasco crash

Bicyclist, 48, struck by car and killed

A bicyclist died Saturday in a crash on State Road 54 east of Court Street in Pasco County after turning into a car's path, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Ester N. Johnson, 59, of Auburndale was driving east in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra on State Road 54, troopers said.

Michael W. Stankard, 48, of Zephyrhills was cycling east on the road's shoulder. He sharply turned left in front of the car and was struck, troopers said.

Stankard died at the scene. Johnson was not injured. The 4:45 p.m. crash remains under investigation.
