LEALMAN — A man who fell off his bicycle on 49th Street N was struck by a car around 4:30 a.m. today.

Dustin Dockery, 32, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with what Lealman Fire District Capt. K. Larry Thompson called "very life-threatening injuries."

Another motorist told investigators that she passed the man just before the crash at 49th and Carrier streets near a set of railroad tracks and it appeared he fell off his bike in the middle of the street, Thompson said. A Florida Highway Patrol report indicated Dockery's front tire hit a curb as he was heading north on 49th Street.

Dockery was struck by a car before the motorist was able to circle back, Thompson said.

The FHP is investigating.
