Boater nearly drowns off Honeymoon Island

DUNEDIN — An unidentified boater nearly drowned in Hurricane Pass after his 12-foot jon boat flipped over Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. The man, approximately 70 years old, was found floating off Honeymoon Island just after 3:30 p.m., according to the Dunedin Fire Department. Rescue workers and paramedics got him out of the water treated his life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Mease Dunedin Hospital.
