Boy hit by car while walking to Van Buren Middle School

TAMPA—A 12-year-old boy was hit by a car early Monday while walking to Van Buren Middle School.

Police said the boy was walking south across Busch Boulevard, approximately 50 feet west of the crosswalk at 22nd Street N, when the car's front left bumper hit him, knocking him to the ground, police said.

Police said the boy may have suffered a broken nose, but was able to walk to an ambulance, which took him to a local hospital. The driver is not considered to have been at fault and won't be cited, police said.
