Brandon man dies in fiery crash at SR 60 and I-75

TAMPA — A 36-year-old Brandon man died early Monday after losing control of his pickup and slamming into a concrete support pillar, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened beneath the Interstate 75 overpass at State Road 60, just before 1 a.m., according to FHP.

Erik Wayne Lanier was eastbound on SR 60 when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a concrete support beam, according to FHP.

The 2008 Toyota Tacoma spun and came to rest near the beam. It then caught fire and "burned extensively," according to a preliminary report.
