PLANT CITY — A wrong-way collision in Plant City claimed the life of yet another Tampa Bay driver Saturday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

John J. Borota, 52, of Brandon, was driving his 2014 Ford F-250 pickup truck west in the eastbound lanes of State Road 60 at about 4:30 a.m.

Borota collided head on with Tyler N. Strickland, 28, of Lithia, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-250. The accident happened near Cable Road.

Borota died at the scene of the crash, and Strickland was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with critical injuries. Borota is the 13th fatality this year in wrong-way crashes on highways in the Tampa Bay area.

It was unclear Saturday if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, the Patrol said.
