Brandon woman critical after car crash

BRANDON — A woman was critically injured Saturday after she lost control of her car and slammed into a sign, authorities said.

Rosalyn Elaine Best, 50, of Brandon, was driving west on W Lumsden Road near Heather Lakes Boulevard when her car veered onto the median, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Best's 2007 Volvo convertible traveled about 850 feet on the median before hitting a sign.

The crash appeared to be caused by some kind of medical condition, the Sheriff's Office said. Best was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where she was in critical condition Saturday night.
