Brooksville crash kills man, injures his bride

BROOKSVILLE — A newlywed couple was in a car crash Saturday that left one dead and the other seriously injured.

The accident happened just before noon, as Daryl and Tiffany Snyder were driving east on rain-slicked Powell Road. Their 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck began to rotate counter-clockwise near Mars Road, then ran off the road and onto the grassy shoulder, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The truck struck a tree, ejecting Daryl Snyder, 20, from the driver's seat. FHP said he was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene.

Tiffany Snyder, 21, still strapped into the passenger's seat, received serious injuries, FHP said. She was transported to Brooksville Regional Hospital.

FHP is still investigating and has not yet determined whether alcohol played a factor.

Hernando County records show the couple married July 30 at Community Baptist Church of Brooksville.
