Brooksville man in critical condition after motorcycle crash

A Brooksville man is in critical condition after losing control of his motorcycle and slamming into several mailboxes, authorities say.

Timothy Ryan Turner, 41, was driving his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle along County Road 476, west of Cody Lane, just after 3 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcycle veered off the road and onto the grass shoulder.

The motorcycle flipped several times, and Turner was ejected. He was found about 100 yards from the road.

He was later taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

Chalk up one more victim to Hurricane Irma: The huge Dia de los Muertos Fiesta that was originally planned for Saturday in Dunedin was scrapped for what would have been the 25th year of the Mexican folk heritage celebration.

At last year's Dia de los Muertos, Casa Tina owner Tina Marie Avila (crouching) shows her "Ofrenda," or Day of the Dead alter. What would have been the 25th annual Dia de los Muertos Fiesta on Saturday had to be canceled this year because of Hurricane Irma. The folk festival will be back next year.
