California woman, 19, killed in Zephyrhills crash

ZEPHYRHILLS — A 19-year-old woman was killed after the car she was riding in ran a red-light Wednesday afternoon and struck a tow truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jolee Ann Tarrant of Shingle Springs, Calif., was killed at the scene.

The incident happened at County Road 54 and Chancey Road about 2 p.m., Troopers said.

A 2003 Toyota Echo driven by Hayley Marie Mann, 20, of Temple Terrace, was northbound on Chancey Road.

The vehicle went through a red light at the intersection with County Road 54 and collided with the left side of the tow truck, which was traveling west on County Road 54, according to the FHP.

Mann was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Tampa General Hospital.

The driver of the tow truck was not injured.

Mann and Tarrant were wearing their seat belts.
