Car crashes into back of Hillsborough home

TAMPA — An 82-year-old man lost control of his car Monday and hit the back of a house on Waters Avenue, authorities said.

Driver Angus McArthur suffered minor injuries. No one in the home was hurt, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The crash happened about noon. McArthur was heading east on Waters when, deputies say, he lost control of his car and drove through a wooden fence and hit a house near the corner of Waters and Redbraes Drive.

His wife, Charlotte McArthur, 86, was a passenger but was not injured, according to Fire Rescue. They both went to St. Joseph's Hospital.

The crash caused about $5,000 in damage to the house, which is in the 8900 block of Shandwick Court, deputies said.

Red Cross was assisting the residents of the home.
