CLEARWATER — A Clearwater man trying to cross Court Street on a bicycle was rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a minivan and seriously injured Friday morning.

Tadd Rice, 46, was attempting to ride his bike south across the westbound lanes of Court at about 7:23 a.m. Friday, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

At the intersection of Court and Lincoln Avenue, just east of Missouri Avenue, Rice was hit by a Dodge Caravan driven by Safety Harbor resident Sandra Hobrack, 44, police said.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue workers responded to the scene. Rice was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was being treated for possibly life-threatening injuries.

The accident blocked the westbound lanes of Court Street for several hours Friday morning, but it was cleared by 10 a.m., police said.

Times photographer Jim Demaske contributed to this report.

Buckle up for Baby Driver, a movie so full throttle cool that you want to fist bump the screen. Style is the substance of Edgar Wright's inventive heist flick, a fresh, masterful synching of music and getaway mayhem, as if La La Land's traffic jam was moving, armed and dangerous.

Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a getaway driver for heist arranger Doc (Kevin Spacey). Plagued by tinnitus, Baby tunes out his distracting “hum in the drum” by listening to music while he drives.
