Chain-reaction crash slows traffic at Tampa's 'malfunction junction'

TAMPA — Only one lane of southbound Interstate 275 was open at the Interstate 4 junction Wednesday night after a chain-reaction crash involving a semi-tractor trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 7:55 p.m., the patrol was called to the scene of a crash where a car slowed for traffic and was rear-ended. The second car was also rear-ended, and then the third vehicle was rear-ended by the semi, troopers said.

The person in the car hit by the semi was transported to a local hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation continues.
