Citrus County toddler drowns in backyard pool

HOMOSASSA — A 2-year-old girl drowned in her family's pool Sunday evening, authorities said.

Jayden Dyess had been watching television when family members last saw her, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. Jayden's parents were out at the time, but other family members were watching her. They found her unresponsive in the pool at 4237 S. Jody Point in Homosassa about 5:30 p.m.

The child was taken to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River. Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives said her death appears to have been an accidental drowning.
