Clearwater man killed in car crash

A Clearwater man was killed early Saturday morning after a car crash in Dunedin, the Florida Highway patrol said.

Christopher J. Holly, 28, was at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Republic Drive about 3 a.m. After receiving a green arrow signal, he began to make a U-turn to go south on the highway.

At that moment, authorities say, Adrian David Rodriguez, 33, drove his Nissan Altima through the southbound red light and slammed into Holly's Nissan Xterra.

Holly's vehicle flipped and he died at the scene.

Rodriguez, also of Clearwater, suffered minor injuries.
