Clearwater man killed in early morning crash

CLEARWATER - An early Saturday morning car accident has left a 24-year-old man dead, authorities said.

Shortly after 1 a.m., Lamar Chad Marshall was speeding northbound on 62nd Street just south of Roosevelt Boulevard when his 2000 Hyundai sedan veered across the southbound lane and traveled onto the grass shoulder and began rotating, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Clearwater man was then thrown from his car after it collided with a concrete culvert, officials said.

Marshall was not wearing a seat belt, according to a preliminary report. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he later died.

Authorities are still investigating.
