Clearwater motorcyclist dies in crash on Belcher Road

CLEARWATER – A Clearwater man died early Monday morning after he crashed his motorcycle on Belcher Road, authorities said.

Anthony Nicholas Viggiano, 48, was traveling south near Cleveland Street when he lost control and hit a sign, according to Clearwater police. Viggiano's 2006 Honda motorcycle then bounced into a light pole and he flew off the seat, police said.

The crash occurred about 11:48 p.m. Sunday. Viggiano later died at Morton Plant Hospital, police said.

Speed did not appear to be a factor in the accident, authorities said. An investigation is ongoing.
