Clearwater pedestrian hit by car is in critical condition

CLEARWATER — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a car Friday while crossing Keene Road, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The incident happened about 2:20 p.m. at the Nursery Road intersection.

The unidentified male was walking east across Keene outside the crosswalk when, troopers say, he stepped into the path of a 2001 Oldsmobile being driven by Heather Nicole Capps, 30, of Clearwater.

Capps, traveling north on Keene, had a green light, authorities said. The east-west cross street of Nursery Road had a red signal.

The man was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Capps was not injured.
