ST. PETERSBURG — Two motorcycles collided Sunday during the Toy Run, an annual toy drive for needy children, sending three people — one of them a Clearwater Police lieutenant — to the hospital, authorities reported. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Investigators believe the lieutenant, whose name has not been released, collided with another motorcycle when the man driving it turned in front of him. The third victim was the man's wife, who rode on the back. The accident occurred at First Ave. S and 65th St.

The Toy Run, put on by Jim's Harley-Davidson Motorcyles, 2805 54th Ave. N, was from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Motorcyclists made various stops along the beach towns and enjoyed live music and food for registering and making a $20 cash donation or bringing a new toy of equal value for needy children.
