CLEARWATER — A man crossing Drew Street was struck and killed by a pickup Wednesday evening, police said.
It happened at about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection with Baker Avenue, police said.
A witness said the man was crossing from south to north and briefly stood on the median before stepping into westbound traffic.
"The next thing we hear are brakes, then a horn, then a car hitting the body," said witness Morgan Ritter, 20, of Clearwater. "He rode up to the guy's windshield and he was thrown at least 10 feet."
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The identities of the man killed and the driver were not released Wednesday night.
