Clearwater man dies of injuries from crash with school bus

CLEARWATER — A Clearwater man critically injured on April 21 when his car crashed into a school bus on Memorial Causeway died Friday night, police said.

Jamin A. Carter, 45, of 1130 Palm Bluff St., was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox east on the causeway when it veered out of control, hit a light pole on the median and then crossed into oncoming lanes and collided with the bus head-on, according to police. Carter had been taken to Bayfront Heath St. Petersburg in critical condition.

The bus was from Georgia. Driver Brett M. Taylor, 22, of Axson, Ga. was treated and released. A passenger on the bus was not injured. The bus was in Clearwater with elementary school students from Georgia. They were picked up by a charter bus and taken home.
