Courtney Campbell Causeway rush-hour accident causes major traffic backup

The eastbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Parkway were jammed during rush hour Wednesday morning after back-to-back traffic accidents.

The first collision, which happened at about 7:30 a.m., involved two cars, one of which rear-ended the other as traffic slowed near the middle of the causeway, Tampa Police spokesperson Irene Thomas said.

A second collision then took place in the next lane over involving a semitrailer truck and four vehicles. There were no injuries, Thomas said.
