Crash backs up morning rush hour traffic on Bayside Bridge

CLEARWATER — Traffic was backed up onto Bayside Bridge on Tuesday morning, state troopers said, after a semi and a motor home crashed.

The crash, which happened just before 7 a.m., caused only minor injuries, but the vehicles knocked down an electrical pole, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The wires were dead and Duke Energy was on the scene Tuesday morning to clear the pole from the road at 140th Avenue N and 49th Street.

Traffic was being rerouted onto Roosevelt Boulevard. State troopers proposed U.S. 19 as an alternate route.

Tow trucks were on their way to the crash at 8:45 a.m., the patrol stated.
