LARGO — Traffic homicide investigators are looking into a crash Wednesday morning that killed a woman and closed the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 for a few hours.

About 3:15 a.m., Largo police officers responded to 16080 U.S. 19 near the overpass of E Bay Drive, where they found 34-year-old Vilayphone Sinnavong in the southbound breakdown lane, according to a news release from Largo police. Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene. Sinnavong had mental health issues and was walking in the roadway wearing a dark garbage bag as clothing, police said.

After noticing vehicle parts in the roadway, officers determined there had been a car crash, police said. Investigators connected the crash to a driver who had reported striking an unknown object on the road. The driver, who police did not identify, is cooperating with the investigation.
