Fletcher Avenue in Tampa back open after crash knocks down wires

TAMPA — Authorities closed a portion of Fletcher Avenue early Tuesday morning for several hours after a car ran into a large telephone pole near the Cecelia Avenue intersection.

The collision knocked a set of power lines into the roadway, leading Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies to block traffic on Fletcher Avenue between Nebraska Avenue and 15th Street for about five hours. The road reopened about 9 a.m.

The driver of the car that hit the pole reportedly fled the scene.
